OUR MISSION
Loaves of Love is dedicated to reducing food waste and fighting hunger by rescuing fresh, unsold bread from local bakeries and redistributing it to those in need. Every day, perfectly good loaves, bagels, and pastries are thrown away simply because they weren’t sold in time. By partnering with bakeries, cafes, and food businesses, we collect this surplus bread and deliver it to food pantries, shelters, and community organizations that serve families facing food insecurity.
Our work not only provides nourishment for those who need it most but also promotes sustainability by keeping thousands of pounds of food out of landfills each year. We believe that no good food should go to waste, and by bridging the gap between abundance and need, we create stronger, healthier communities. Our vision is simple yet powerful: turn surplus into hope, and ensure that fresh food finds its way to tables instead of trash bins.
LOAVES OF LOVE
Loves of Love started from a simple idea that grew out of our family’s bagel shop. Every day we saw people from all walks of life walk through the door, and it became clear that everyone is carrying something, financial struggles, health challenges, family problems, or stress that others may never see. A bagel may seem simple, but it often becomes a moment where people pause, talk, and share pieces of their story.
That idea led us to start Loves of Love, where we began donating leftover bagels to local shelters and charities instead of letting them go to waste. Over time, this small act turned into tens of thousands of bagels donated to organizations serving people in need. As the effort grew, we also began connecting bakeries and delis across New Jersey with charities so that more surplus food could reach communities that need it.
Our work was recognized by the Jackson Township Council for the impact Loves of Love has had in helping support the community.
At the end of the day, the idea is simple: everyone has a story, and everyone goes through difficult seasons. And sometimes, the smallest gesture can mean the most.
